David + Ana
David & Ana really wanted to do their day after session somewhere with an epic view. Their wedding was in South Carolina and primarily indoors so they really wanted to take photos outdoors in a more intimate setting. We started to brainstorm locations and decided on Table rock in Linville gorge. Table rock is about a 1.5 hour drive from Asheville, NC. It’s mainly windy backroads until you reach a dirt road. You travel up the dirt road for about 7 miles until you reach a parking lot. From there it is about a 25 minute hike to get up on top of the rocks.
Was it worth the hike?
YES! Totally worth it, this spot makes you feel like you are on a different planet. The trees are really unique and the rocks are in all sorts of formations with steep cliffs on each side. During our hike up to the top of the gorge it started to rain out of nowhere! Which was crazy considering it was sunny the entire day. A small cloud just so happened to be passing through. We ended up squatting under a rock until the rain passed. From there it was a short hike to the top!
All the clouds cleared to reveal an amazing golden hour and an amazing view of Linville gorge. We jumped straight in to taking photos and I was just geeking out the whole time because of what was behind my camera. Simply put David and Ana were perfect, they were just being themselves and enjoying the moment paying little attention to the camera. We had lots of fun throughout every moment and in short, I don’t know how the shoot could have gone any better!
The number one thing I recommend for all couples getting married is to do a day after session. It can be in any location you choose, and it’s a great way to simply relax and enjoy the photography process in a more intimate setting. It also takes the stress out of trying to squeeze all the photos in a wedding day.
